This old mining town at the base of Pikes Peak is home to the largest population of witches…I have to preface this last comment…I have heard this several times from my mother-in-law to locals, but I have yet to find legitimate independent confirmation of this fact. But it is still something fun to think about when you visit the quaint shops along Manitou Ave. J
Manitou has tons of fun family activities throughout the year that are MUSTS! Some upcoming events include the Good Old Summertime Ice Cream Social and Pie Making Contest (July 30th), Emma Crawford Coffin Race and Parade (Oct 27th), and a Victorian Christmas at Miramont Castle (Nov-23-25).
There are many small town shops, restaurants and a HUGE penny arcade along Manitou Ave. Needs beads for a jewelry project? Visit Silver Sparrow Beads. Want healthy, organic food? Stop for lunch at Adams Mountain Café or Naturally’s Market & Café. There a so many shops to visit, go find your favorite and support the local merchants!
